AN INTRODUCTION TO FAWBERT & BARNARD’S PRIMARY SCHOOL

Fawbert and Barnard’s Undemoninational School was founded in May 1836 under provision contained in the will of George Fawbert of Waltham Cross, who died in 1824. The present school is a seven class primary school admitting children from the ages of four through to eleven. The school serves the Old Harlow area although pupils from outside the area may be admitted if there are places available. This handbook is to guide parents through the administrative procedures but in cases of doubt, please telephone or call into the school office, where the staff will be happy to help you. MORNING BREAK

At Fawbert and Barnard’s we are aware of the importance of a healthy diet and it is school policy that children do not bring crisps or chocolate to eat at morning break times. Induction Pack/Parents Handbook Updated April 2009

The school has a 15 minute break in the morning. Children may bring fruit or other healthy snacks and a carton of juice.

To encourage children to eat sensibly the school runs a snack shop at morning break time where children can purchase fruit, raisins and milk for a nominal charge or they may bring a healthy snack from home. Infant children are also provided with free fruit each day.

Children may also bring a bottle of water from home to drink throughout the day.
